Despite the weather, this year's Tokeneke Classic was a great success. We had about 550 riders register, more than in any prior year. We expected a large number of no-shows because of the weather but we had 439 starters and 344 finishers. (Results are at BikeReg and also on our site - link above.)
The day started early for us with set-up and course marking at 6:30. The rain held off for the morning so the early races (men's cat 4, master's 50+, cat 4/5, women's 4) had a relatively dry day.
By the afternoon races the rain had started. Fortunately E. Hartland did not receive the torrential rain that other areas did - just a steady light rain all afternoon. Temps in the mid-60s were a challenge for riders. Given the hot weather in the few weeks before, many had not brought arm-warmers or jackets. Racers certainly suffered during the afternoon.
